The comment from 2007, while having been deleted since (along with a lot of other things, strips, pictures and commentary, some of which have been jossed), works well with what we have seen of Sweden (and his interactions with other nations, especially Finland), so I will treat it as valid Word of God for the purpose of this app. It makes Sweden the only Hetalia character who has an officially sexuality. Kind of, since the comment is actually rather vague and leaves a lot of room for interpretation.
Canon suggests that Sweden and Finland have known each other and spent time together from an very early age. To assume that Sweden has been ogling (and maybe dating; we don't know how one-sided his affections are, and while Sweden scares Finland rather frequently, they do still hang out in modern day despite their national attitudes not being necessarily friendly towards each other) at Finland so long that falling for another person just never came up isn't too far fetched. Still, "Finlandsexual" is not really a valid sexuality for the sake of this application. So what does that quote mean about Sweden's sexuality when removed from Finland?
✖ He feels sexually attracted to one male, Finland. Let's cross "heterosexual" off the list.
✖ While Himaruya does say "Yes" to the question if Sweden is homosexual, the yes is put into perspective immediately when he adds that this is only true for Finland. It sounds like a case of "a guy likes one other guy, this defines him as gay (even if he has slept with girls before or will in the future - sexuality is defined by the person that you are with right now - a concept that is rather popular outside the LGBT community)" and like Himaruya is simply trying to say that "yes, Sweden is interested in Finland that way". After all Sweden's sexuality beyond Finland is not important as long as the other Nordic is around. This leaves us with a wide variety of options: Homo-, bi- or pansexual.
So I would say that Sweden's sexuality is "mostly unknown, but definitely not heterosexual or asexual".
» Personality:
There are more or less two Swedens: The one that one would see, and the one that he is inside. Sometimes, they seem like polar opposites. I'll describe those two sides first before making the connection.
The outside: Is plain intimidating or even scary, and the more you talk to him, the scarier he gets. He tends to loom over people, partly because of his height, partly because of his face and the eerie aura that he emits. He doesn't speak much and when he does, it's usually only in very short sentences that are hard to understand. In Japanese, he speaks with a Tohoku accent, which is usually translated as grunt speak (dropping a few vowels). On the other hand, he is only intimidating, he never attacks anyone or utters open threats in a conversation (though what he says can often be interpreted as such, since he doesn't really manage to pick an appropriate tone, facial expression and body language very well).
The inside: Is described as playful. From what we have seen so far he is very caring, reliable and gentle and tries to keep those that he cares for as happy and safe as possible. He tends to second-guess what he wants to say too much and thus never says much at all, and can even be really shy sometimes. He tries to understand what others are thinking and to make them feel at ease, just usually doesn't succeed.
He is a calm person who likes to do things on his own, with his own hands, instead of leaving it to others. When he seems scary, he is usually either worried or concentrated or both or just thinking/trying to figure something out. Pretty much every expression that isn't neutral looks scary (okay, even his neutral expression does). Smiling or long speeches are just something that he doesn't do (the longest speech that he has ever given in canon consisted of three little speech bubbles and the way that Finland reacted to it implies that it was a huge exception; in all of his canon depictions, he has smiled once).
It is also noted that he is "argument/dispute loving" (I'm not sure if there's something lost in translation, since you would assume that that involves words. I play it as him not shying away from a fight or disagreement for the sake of peace and harmony if he can afford it at all, but instead diving in head-first). While he was backwards for a long time in a lot of fields and was never a cultural centre or exporter of culture, his battle skills and his fleet are a different thing and have been known as up to date and strong for almost all of his life. He hasn't been involved in any wars for almost forty years now, though, and while he hasn't fully redrawn from the wars of Europe yet, he instead concentrates on his own house and Norway, who lives with him. His house having gotten that small is actually one of the main reasons why he has calmed down so much and doesn't get involved with the constant fighting in Europe anymore: His territory is now limited to the Scandinavian peninsula, the only border with another country too far up North to really warrant border disputes. But going in a circle here, past experiences (especially losing Finland, the rise of other powers and changing times in general) have calmed him down enough to not have him desire more than what he has (and Norway mostly really is a. the rest of the peninsula so this is meant to be and b. he has just wanted his neighbour to live in his house since forever.)
Sweden is about to transform from a stagnant rural to a very modern nation concerning politics, society and industry (having Norway with him is like a little thorn in his side calling for reforms), but hasn't gotten there yet. This for example means that he does not work with his modern codes of morals, manners and appropriate reactions yet. Examples of this would be that modern Sweden would definitely never hit a child, while for this one, it is a perfectly normal and acceptable way to get a point across; that this Sweden would not realize that smoking and asthma/other sicknesses are related; that he wouldn't consider it necessary yet for a legitimate government to be democratically elected by all adult citizens.
An important difference from most other times in his life is that he gets along well with Denmark due to the influence of Pan-Scandinavism movement (he even promised him help in a war!) and has no relations with Finland (whom he lost to Russia in 1809 and hasn't really talked to ever since).
» Appearance:
Standing at 182 cm, Sweden is very tall for a nation (the only nation who is of the same height is Russia, and everyone else is shorter). He has light blond hair that is cropped short, wears glasses and has light greenish blue eyes. His almost never changing facial expression is probably the most striking thing about him - and not in a good way. This is the face that makes Finland scream every so often, that makes Prussia faint every time he sees it - in short, he is fricken scary. The scariness is only supported by his clipped way of speaking and the fact that he stares very intensely at whoever is in front of him when thinking. He usually wears clean and tidy, but simple clothes, in plain colours (often dark blue), that don't stand out much.

» "amatomneslogs" Third-Person Prose Entry:
It has been ages since he dreamt of Finland that way, and he's not sure if it is good or bad - bad because it means that he still hasn't gotten over him (not that he wants to, but that is what his boss is asking him to do and while not all bosses are good, this one definitely means well - and also mostly lives up to that intention) or good, because... well. Time might be an one-way street, but it is also what made a person - or a nation - and forgetting or completely abandoning a part of it would never be good. It would be abandoning a part of himself. ...Even if it would be easier.
He really hopes that his bedmate neither did nor will notice though, because that has always been a source of being made fun of in the past. Not that he hadn't expected it when they started to share a bed, but Sweden just - well, he needed the presence of someone there, because while he isn't particularly good with other people, he has not been really alone for many centuries. And then there was the hope that sharing a bed would make them grow together more, make them get along and grow into something more than two countries that happen to share a king and a house (at least technically). But the most that has come of it is that their daily schedules have adjusted to each other. Well, that probably isn't the worst thing that could have happened.
None of that changes the fact that he is lying here, his lap rather sticky, and hopes fervently that he didn't moan or talk in his sleep, or that at least it didn't wake Norway up. If he pretends to sleep in just long enough for the other nation to have left the room when he gets up, he should be able to change the covers and his nightgown without the other man notic-
he isn't wearing his nightgown. Or anything at all. And the covers don't feel like they should, too light and smooth. And thirdly, the room is a lot warmer and the air fresher than it should be after two people slept in it in the middle of winter. For the first he could have blamed being drunk, and also for the second, but... well, technically for the third as well. But he is neither hungover nor can he recall meeting any nations except for his immediate neighbours the day before, nor making any appointments to do so.
And he cannot hear another person breathing in the room. Sweden sits up with a jolt and looks around, and yes, he seems to be alone. And judging from the bed, he has been alone in it as well. So the question is how and why he got here, and why whoever brought him here felt the need to get him undressed. ...And then place his nightgown, and thankfully also his glasses, on a chair next to the bed. He slides the glasses on and then grabs for the nightgown and pulls it on, glad to have something to feel less indecent in, but can't help to think that really - day clothes would have been a lot *more* helpful. He needs to find someone, maybe a maid (the room looks luxurious enough to assume that the house will have staff) and figure out where this is, why he is here and who is responsible. And then take action accordingly. His boss won't be happy, nor is he: Everything was going so well, and now someone plays weird pranks on him (and the only ones who would really do that are Norway and Denmark, and this isn't really their style. At all. The interior points to maybe Greece or Ottoman, but that makes no sense, either. So who?) - or abducted him. But how would anyone abduct a nation and why to a different country, and why this way? And if he is here, and alone, did anything happen to Norway?
Dressed and deep in thoughts, he wanders over to the window, making sure to not fully turn his back to the door, and looks outside. He doesn't recognize the view - generically southern, and the buildings mirror the style of the bedroom.
Some more searching presents him with a door that leads out to a hallway and another one that opens to what he can only guess to be a bathroom. It reflects the same wealth as the bedroom, including a water closet (he's only heard about these until now, and this model looks - interesting, but he is sure that it is one) and being generally well equipped. Sweden first gets a towel and quickly cleans himself off, suddenly grateful about waking up naked - at least that meant that his nightgown wouldn't be spoiled - and leans on the sink and turns on the tap, squinting into the mirror. It's only now that he realizes what else was off - why is he wearing a collar? It's a rather small and soft affair, but he cannot find a clasp, and it is a bit creepy how it seems to be customized for him, coloured after his flag and having two little lion pendants dangling off it. It's rather loose so it isn't painful or even uncomfortable, but considering what collars symbolize, he dearly wants to take it off. He is nobody's possession, and will never again be.
First of all, he will find scissors or a knife or something similar to take this off, and then he will find whoever did this and then there will be consequences. He might not be an empire any more, but that does not mean that he can let things like this slide without endangering his status and standing among the nations, and with that his and also Norway's safety.
