More exactly, Christmas Night 1249

Things that haven't happened yet/are different:

- Kalmar. Or rather, Kalmar going sour and resulting in Sweden and Denmark starting to fight eternally, their rather brotherly relationship growing into one of contempt and constant aggression. At the time that Sweden is from, they get along rather well, and Sweden even admires Denmark's current "queen" and considers living together with the two other Scandinavians a smaller evil than staying with his own king. Sweden still considers Denmark a "brother".
- Related to that, Sweden isn't a rising power yet. He isn't weak, he is trying to expand, but he's not a particularely major power - the balance between him and Denmark hasn't started to tilt in his favour yet, and he has no strong aspiration for it to do so yet.
- Finland is still a kid to him. A kid that he cares about, but the feeling is brotherly and platonic, more like Norway feels about Iceland.
- The Reformation hasn't happened yet (Sweden adopted Lutheranism the year he declared independence, in 1523), so he is still Catholic.
- He's on relatively equal terms with Norway, Sweden hasn't yet started to become the much heavier weight between them. (atm they also have a functioning treaty to not bother each other)
- He is younger phsyically by two years.
- Russia is already an enemy to him, though more an annoyance than a threat.
- His eyes haven't worsened yet, so he doesn't wear glasses. He is also a bit shorter, roughly Norway's height (5'8~5'9).

tl;dr, he is an a lot lesser power and his three main relationships are quite different.

Things that are hot right now:
- The Second Swedish Crusade of Finland, roughly against Russia. Finland becomes Swedish.
- The Treaty of Lödöse with Norway. They stop being asses to each other, for now.
- Gotland is Sweden's, Scania is Danish.
- Electing your king is so yesterday. (A hint of democracy will only return during the 1319 union with Norway, when in 1359 the Riksdag is summoned for the first time (because Norway is a good influence, considering that the 1814 union helped Sweden's democracy a lot as well...). The folkung is abolished, partly by using the Catholic church as an instrument. Birger Jarl is also referred to as the "first true king of Sweden".
- Feudal systems are the latest fad and super awesome, let's get that too!
